Streaming subscription prices in Canada
Short answer
Streaming costs add up fastest when every service runs at once. The table below shows each brand's own Canadian list price where we could confirm it on the brand's site, with the date checked, next to the current LicenceBase price in CAD. For most households the cheapest approach is to keep one or two services and rotate the rest.

Brand prices are what the brand charges on its own Canadian site, shown for reference on the date given, before any tax the brand adds; follow the link for today's price. They are not LicenceBase prices: LicenceBase is an independent store, not the brand, and its plans are one-time payments for a fixed term, sold on different terms from the brand's own subscription. A brand price appears only where we have matched our product to the brand's plan.
Ways to spend less on streaming
- Rotate services. Subscribe to one service for the month a show you want comes out, then switch. Short plans make this easy.
- Check what you already pay for. On Amazon's own site, Prime Video comes with an Amazon Prime membership, and YouTube Premium includes YouTube Music Premium, which can replace a separate music plan.
- Consider ad-supported tiers. Some services sell a cheaper plan with ads on their own sites.
- Avoid paying twice. Before adding a music subscription, check whether one you already have covers it.
Music: Spotify Premium or YouTube Premium?
Spotify Premium covers music and podcasts, with offline downloads and unlimited skips. YouTube Premium removes ads from YouTube videos, adds background play and downloads, and includes YouTube Music Premium. If you watch YouTube every day, one YouTube Premium plan can cover both. Series and films: Netflix or Prime Video?
Netflix is built around its original series and films. Prime Video has Amazon Originals and a large film library, with some titles rented or bought separately. Catalogues differ by country, so check that the shows you want are available in Canada. The details: Netflix vs Prime Video in Canada.

Frequently asked questions
Do the brands' Canadian prices include tax?
Not always. Sales tax may be added at the brand's checkout depending on the brand and your province. LicenceBase adds no taxes or fees at checkout.
Why do the brand prices have a date?
Brands change prices often. Each brand price shows the date it was checked on the brand's own site, and it is removed automatically after a few months until it is checked again.
Is YouTube Premium the same as YouTube Music Premium?
No. YouTube Premium includes YouTube Music Premium and also removes ads from YouTube videos. YouTube Music Premium on its own covers music only.
LicenceBase sells some of the products mentioned here. LicenceBase prices are read live from the store; brand prices show the date they were checked on the brand's own site.
